Over a billion dinars has been invested in the equipping and construction of industrial zones throughout Vojvodina, and a new industrial zone is planned as well, along Corridor 10, near Vrbas, as announced by the vice president of the Provincial Government, Djordje Milicevic, at the conference presenting the investment potentials of Vojvodina.

He said that the parcel for the new industrial zone near Vrbas had already been set and that its infrastructural equipping would begin soon. Milicevic also emphasized that an even development and investments in less developed municipalities in Vojvodina also needed to be enabled.

– I deeply believe that all this is a considerable contribution to the investment boom in Serbia – Milicevic said.

He pointed out that Vojvodina had development potential in all fields, from agriculture, through the manufacturing industry, to tourism and the IT sector.

– It is up to us to use this space for development, especially if we add to it the working, creative and innovative potential of our people, which, I am sure, is now one of the key factors for the arrival of foreign investors – Milicevic said and added that the current economic tendencies in Vojvodina confirmed that there was room for optimism.

Along with the improvement of the business environment in Vojvodina, Milicevic says, the number of the unemployed is constantly dropping as well. He said that there had been 182,000 unemployed people in Vojvodina in 2016 and that the number had since been reduced to 108,000 and added that it meant that 74,000 people in Vojvodina had been employed thanks to the improvement of the business environment and the economic activities.

At the conference “Invest in Vojvodina”, which was organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina and the Color Press Group, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina, Bosko Vucurevic, said that Serbia was the leader in the region when it comes to attracting foreign direct investments and that Vojvodina was certainly its strongest driving engine.

– This is the result of the consistent policy of the Government of Serbia, the Provincial Government and all its institutions – Vucurevic said.

The organizers made an effort, he says, to bring together all the most important actors at the conference, aiming to present the investment potentials of Vojvodina and the ways in which the investment climate and the business environment could further improve, attracting new investors and expanding the activities of the existing investors.

Vucurevic said that the foreign trade of the Vojvodina economy amounted to EUR 7.3 billion in the first seven months of 2019, and that, of this sum, the exports amounted to EUR 3.5 billion, an increase of 9% compared to the same period in 2018.

– The economy of Vojvodina contributes 35% of the total exports of Serbia. Today, you will hear the experiences of the countries which are the most important investors in Vojvodina and their opinion about how to create a stable economy together – Vucurevic said.
