Chinese Company CRBC to Build Fruska Gora Corridor – Agreement Worth EUR 606 Million on Traffic Route from Novi Sad to Ruma Signed
The agreement was signed by Serbian Construction Minister Zorana Mihajlovic and the company's director, Zhang Xiaoyuan, and the ceremony was also attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo.
Let us remind that, in mid-September, the government adopted the commercial agreement on the construction of the Fruska Gora Corridor with CRBC, worth EUR 606 million.
In mid-August, the government received an approval by the Chinese Exim Bank and the Chinese ministry for the financing of the Fruska Gora Corridor.
– Everything else is a technical question. By the end of the year, we will prepare the project-technical documentation and I believe that, by the end of the year, we will finally be able to commence the works on this traffic route – minister Zorana Mihajlovic said earlier.
The traffic route will spread from the Kac Interchange on the Novi Sad-Zrenjanin road and cross the E-75 highway at the Minut gas station. The corridor with a new route will further go toward the Danube, through through Fruska Gora to the Belgrade-Zagreb highway. The high-speed route will cross to the Srem side through the new bridge which is supposed to be built near the church on Tekije and then go further to Bukovac through the tunnel beneath Fruska Gora. The tunnel will go toward the Vrdnik interchange and then toward Ruma.
As announced earlier, the construction of the Novi Sad-Ruma highway will be split into four phases. The first phase is Ruma-tunnel entrance through Fruska Gora, the second is the construction of the 17-km tunnel, the third is the construction of the exit from the tunnel to the Miseluk interchange and the fourth is the bypass route around Petrovaradin.
The Fruska Gora Corridor will connect Corridor 10 and Corridor 4, making for the shortest link between Bosnia and Romania. The most important aspect of the Novi Sad-Ruma corridor with a tunnel is that it will finally solve the big problem of the passing of freight vehicles over Fruska Gora and through Irig, which features one of the busiest routes in Serbia, with a daily average of 10,000 to 12,000 vehicles.
