American Company Rivian Opens Technological Center in Belgrade
The opening of the technological center was attended by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, who said that the arrival of Rivian to Serbia was of special importance and that they had worked for more than a year and a half to get the investor to come to Serbia.
– Serbia is the only one in Europe to manage to do so. Aside from the USA and Canada, they opened a center only in Serbia. Here, I have seen motivated young people, who are well paid and who will stay to live and work here – Vucic said.
He added that that proved the benefit of the introduction of dual education.
He also said that the economic cooperation of Serbia and the USA grew year after year and that the foreign trade in 2022 would amount to USD 1.4 billion, 33% more than in the previous year.
The US ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, said that he was “delighted that a company this great fit so well with the Serbian culture”.
– From the point of view of the US embassy, we are proud that the company is here and we will observe with satisfaction how the company is growing – Hill said.
The vice president of software development at Rivian, Wassym Bensaid, expressed his gratitude for the support they had been given when arriving to Serbia.
– Software is the essence of the experience that we offer to our clients. That determines how the vehicles move and what the interaction with the world is like. In order to achieve all that, Rivian needs the best engineers in the world and we very purposefully chose Belgrade. You have an active technological scene and I am happy that we can welcome our new colleagues – Bensaid said.
Rivian was founded in 2009. The company designs and manufactures electric vehicles. The first vehicle models are the R1T pickup truck with two seat rows for five passengers, pronounced the best vehicle in its category, and R1S, an SUV with three seat rows for seven passengers.
