Construction of Nidec Factory in Novi Sad Begins – In the First Phase, 300 Workers to be Employed at a Facility on 26,000 m2
The factory will be built in the Industrial Zone North 4, on Kacki Put.
As announced earlier, Nidec plans to bring an investment worth a total of EUR 2 billion to Serbia, and the production should start in late 2022.
It has also been announced that the automotive industry factory will employ 300 people in the first phase and that it will spread on 26,000 m2.
The aim is for Nidec’s factory in Novi Sad to be the central base for the group’s production activities in East Europe and the seat of the company and companies in the Nidec Group, several of which are also planning to come to Serbia.
The investment is in line with the “Initiative for Cooperation with the Western Balkans”, on which the Japanese government is currently working in relation to Serbia and other regions, so the Japanese company has received great support from both the Japanese and Serbian governments.
In Europe, the demand for highly efficient brushless DC motors and related products for vehicles and home devices is increasing due to the tightening of the environmental regulations and the stricter demands for reducing carbon-dioxide emissions for passenger cars in European countries.
Nidec was founded in 1973 in the Japanese city of Kyoto, and today, it is a world leader in the production of all types of electric motors, with the biggest share in the world market of hard drive spindle motors.
The corporation operates in over 40 countries, with around 340 companies in the group, employing more than 120,000 people worldwide.
In 2019, the overall sales revenues amounted to EUR 11.8 billion.
The investment in Serbia is part of the company’s long-term strategy, and the launching of the factory in Novi Sad is the first step toward establishing the European industrial park Nidec.
The company has said that, in its new business endeavor, it will make use of its decades-long experience, as well as the example of the investment in the city of Pinghu in China, where Nidec has invested over EUR 2 billion in 20 years of operations, and 12 factories were built, employing over 12,000 people.
