The operator of the Port of Novi Sad, the company DP World, has begun the reconstruction of the international passenger terminal in that city. As the Port Governance Agency told eKapija, the reconstruction will entail the adaptation of the floating structure and the establishment of a new system of connections.

– The new system of connections is important from the aspect of safety, considering that it will enable a safe functioning of this international passenger terminal at all water levels and a safe boarding and landing of the passengers and the crew – the Port Governance Agency says.

The works are expected to be finished in the spring.

Let us remind that the Port Governance Agency announced earlier that DP World planned the realization of development projects worth EUR 35 million at the Port of Novi Sad in the next period. The construction of a container terminal was announced, but also the reconstruction of a passenger terminal, which is in progress.

It was emphasized that, from the aspect of nautical tourism, Novi Sad was an important point on the route of cruise ships through Serbia.

The CEO of DP World from the United Arab Emirates, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, confirmed that the investment in Novi Sad would amount to EUR 35 million and announced an interest in investments in the free zone and intermodal terminals in Serbia.

DP World also presented a new boat, named “Albatros”, the aim of which is to make this port the market leader in the region and one of the most important trade hubs on the Danube. More goods can now enter and exit the Port of Novi Sad thanks to this new thruster boat.
