Potential for New Japanese Investments in Energy

Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic and Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Takahiko Katsumata discussed the realization of the energy projects that involve Japanese companies and the potentials for new investments in the field, the Government of Serbia announced.

Mihajlovic pointed out that the ministry had prepared a new legal framework in the field of energy and mining, which should open the possibilities for new investments, especially in using renewable energy sources, as well as a much wider coverage of the populace with the measures for inciting energy efficiency.

The progress of the construction of the desulfuring facilities at TENT A and TENT B power plants, as well as the planned repair and adaptation of the Reversible Hydro Power Plant Bajina Basta, projects on which Japanese companies are engaged, were also discussed at the meeting.


Katsumata said that there was an openness for cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of climate-neutral development and energy efficiency, as very important subjects on a global scale.
