Railway from Belgrade to Novi Sad Most Probably to be Operated by Stadler’s Two-Tier Trains
The tendering procedure for the procurement of three trains opened in February and ends on March 15.
The first train should arrive to Serbia in October and may start operating the route at 200 km/h by the end of the year.
As Novosti learns unofficially, the train will be the same as the ones that are used in Austria, on the line between Vienna and Salzburg. They are around 150 meters long and have about 500 seats, and those that are to be delivered to Serbia will be painted the colors of the Serbian flag.
The deadline for the delivery of the remaining two trains is December 31. The tendering documentation cites the criteria that the trains that will operate the first fast railway in Serbia must meet.
The criteria are that the train must be at least 100 meters long and have a minimum of 300 first-grade and second-grade seats.
The construction of the fast railway between Belgrade and Novi Sad costs around USD 850 million and is part of the project of the railroad which is supposed to connect Belgrade and Budapest.
