Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Belgrade Asks for Higher Minimum Wage
At today's session of the Social and Economic Council in Belgrade, the union proposed the initiative for higher minimum wage in Belgrade than the rest of Serbia since the conditions of life and everyday expenses
– When it comes to apartment prices, public utility bills and the cost of groceries, the amount of the average consumer basket is higher in Belgrade, the Union stated.
The minimum consumer basket in Serbia is RSD 38,100 whereas in Belgrade it amounts to RSD 44,400 and in Leskovac it is RSD 33,600, the Union said and assessed that the minimum wage for employees in Belgrade and the rest of Serbia cannot be the same.
The Union estimated that at present there were around 120,000 employees in Belgrade who are paid minimum wage.
