The American telecommunications giant AT&T has reached an agreement on the purchase of Time Warner, owner of CNN, HBO and Warner Brothers. The transaction worth USD 80 billion will thoroughly change the state of the American media.

The market value of Time Warner has been estimated at USD 69.6 billion, and of AT&T at USD 230.6 billion.

The merger of the two media giants worth USD 300 billion combined will surely be subject to thorough inspection by anti-monopoly authorities due to a potential influence on the media scene.

Analysts believe that the transaction might lead to other great media company mergers.

The Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has promised that he will stop the merger if he becomes president, calling it an example of the “power structure” directed against him and his voters.
