MOMIROVIC: Investments and trade priorities in relations with Great Britain
The ministry announces that Momirovic pointed out that the constant improvement of the bilateral relations with Great Britain was a strategic goal.
While a global battle with the coronavirus pandemic is ongoing, the minister says, the joint interest of Great Britain and Serbia, namely, a stable, safe and economically prosperous Western Balkans, should not be forgotten.
– In addition to our common history and being on the same side in both the First and the Second World War, we mustn’t forget that Great Britain saved Europe on two occasions in that period. The strengthening of the relations between our countries, especially from the economic aspect, is the direction we want to go in – Momirovic said.
He said that the capital investments in the country, after a long stagnation, were also directed at road and rail infrastructure to a great extent.
Momirovic pointed out that the planned investment in the utility infrastructure of waste water treatment might open additional avenues of cooperation between Great Britain and Serbia.
Ambassador MacLeod says that British companies are interested in infrastructural projects in Serbia, especially when it comes to investments and international trade.
She said that Great Britain would continue supporting Serbia in upgrading the business environment.
They also announced that the construction of the Belgrade Subway was another project that British companies are interested in, in terms of potential cooperation.
– My goal as the ambassador of Great Britain, which, although no longer an EU member, is nevertheless a European country just as much as Serbia, is for our cooperation in the future to be even better in the segment of trade relations and investments. That’s where the potential for growth and the strengthening of relations between Serbia and Great Britain lies – the ambassador said.
